Naional Parks Around the World

A national park is an area set aside by a national government for the preservation of the natural environment. A national park may be set aside for many reasons including, natural recreation, scientific or historical background, and the preservation of wildlife. There are 429 national park sites in the United States alone, some extending into territories, including Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.

Park rangers have a diverse set of duties, which include law enforcement, education and interpretation, emergency response, maintenance, and administration. They help care for and maintain national, state, county and city parks.
